"Coach Dave's" Music
"Coach Dave" Laprise began entertaining as a musician and band leader more than 50 years ago, and for many years made his living as a professional musician and music teacher. He left the music business for several years to work at a new vocation, as an expo vendor traveling across America. His desire to once again play music and entertain resurfaced and he worked for several years re-defining his musical abilities learned while a student at the Berklee School of Music.
Dave does not play "stereotype" accordion but has a unique style. He plays an all electronic, digital accordion. Not only does he play melodies and jazz choruses with his right, keyboard hand, he plays the left hand buttions like a stand up bass, a technique few accordionists have mastered. Besides authentic accordion sounds, he will play big band music featuring horns and saxes. On old standards and ballads he may utilize strings and vibes. Small group, light jazz sounds may include piano or jazz organ. Classic country piano sounds are always a hit. A bit of folk music would feature unbelievable banjo sounds. You will also hear a little rock n roll and some fifties. The sounds are endless. There are no pre recorded tapes or backing tracks. All music is performed live as you listen.
Dave travels around America in a motor home and may be in an area near you. He has entertained at many different venues playing for home parties and small and large concerts, dances, camp grounds, flea markets, farmer's markets, and even at the finish line of major running races. He can play for any other function you may have.
